Flying to Tasmania has always been a shameful occupation. Typically, you have to connect in Sydney or Melbourne. Taking a long flight, this is usually the last thing you do.

Air New Zealand is scheduled to fly from Hobart, the capital of New Zealand, to Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, reports Xinhua.

Until then, flights have passed through Australia’s largest city, Sydney or the second-largest city, Melbourne. The service will be Air New Zealand’s first new international route since the Kovid-19 pandemic began.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Greg Foran said in a statement that it is exciting to start a new route with the airline reopening other Australian ports a year after it was primarily a domestic airline.

“Our Hobart-Auckland route will open a direct link between 540,000 potential Tasmanian tourists and our largest city, with regional hot spots such as Queenstown and Rotorua.”
